Garnica, a leading manufacturer of plywood panels, is proud to announce its collaboration in the Biopoptech project, an innovative initiative designed to improve the forestry sector, with special emphasis on the cultivation of poplar and the cascading use of its wood.

The main objective of the Biopoptech project is to optimise the poplar value chain, from its cultivation to the use of its wood in high added value products. This initiative focuses on improving the productivity, wood quality and health of different poplar clones through the implementation of advanced technologies and sustainable practices.

On 28 May, the Biopoptech Operational Group organised a conference to present the innovations developed in poplar cultivation. The event took place in the Municipal Library of Nájera, where informative talks were given followed by a visit to a clonal trial plot. During this visit, the characteristics and differences in the adaptation of new experimental clones were explained, highlighting the advances achieved in the evaluation of the productive capacity, wood quality and health of different poplar clones. The influence of the growing environment on these aspects was also discussed.

The conference was aimed at people involved in the whole poplar value chain: forest owners, timber industries and service companies related to poplar cultivation. This inclusive approach ensures that all actors in the sector can benefit from the knowledge shared and innovations presented, thus promoting a comprehensive and effective collaboration.

At this conference, emphasis was placed on clonal differences in industrial wood quality, targeting high value-added products, related to the plywood industry and structural products such as LSL (Laminated Strand Lumber). These innovations have the potential to transform the forestry sector, making it more efficient and sustainable.

Garnica's participation in the Biopoptech project underlines its commitment to innovation and sustainability in the forestry sector. The company not only contributes its experience in the manufacture of wood-based products, but also actively collaborates in the research and development of new technologies and practices that benefit the entire poplar value chain. Garnica is thus positioning itself as a benchmark in the industry, promoting significant improvements that contribute to a more sustainable and productive future for the forestry sector.

With its participation in Biopoptech, Garnica reaffirms its leadership and commitment to innovation, sustainability and excellence in the wood industry.
