At the BASAJAUN stand, Garnica shared innovations related to the use of wood in construction alongside other consortium members, underscoring “G-Brick Eco,” our commitment to sustainable wood construction.

At the most recent WoodRise International Congress, held in Bordeaux, France, from October 17 to 20, more than 3,000 participants from 20 different countries came together to learn about the latest trends and developments in wood construction. This event has become a hub for discussion about critical issues, including decarbonization of the construction industry, the competitiveness of wood construction, and international projects in this field.

In this context, Garnica emerged as a pivotal player in the promotion of sustainable wood construction through its involvement in the BASAJAUN Project, funded by the European Commission. This project brings together companies, organizations, and public bodies to promote wood construction as synonymous with innovation and sustainability. The BASAJAUN Project has a clear mission to maximize the value of Europe’s forests, which cover 43% of the European Union’s total land area. This not only benefits rural communities but also drives the digitization of the entire value chain, from the forest to the finished building.

During this congress, our stand became a veritable showcase of innovation, featuring panels made with “G-Brick Eco”, a product we are currently developing, and some of the furniture crafted from 30 mm Duraply panels. As part of our new line of structural products, "G-Brick Eco" excels as an example of sustainability since, unlike conventional XPS foam, it uses wood fiber insulation, promoting sustainability by using local wood and reducing the environmental impact. Furthermore, a pilot building will be constructed in France, incorporating “G-Brick Eco” in its roofing and internal walls. For six months, we will monitor its performance in real-life conditions and, once we get the results, these innovative “G-Brick Eco” panels will be brought to market.

At Garnica, we are essentially defined by our constant commitment to innovation and sustainability. This passion has led us to be an integral part of the WoodRise 2023 congress, where we shared our vision for a more sustainable and environmentally friendly world in terms of wood construction. We hope to continue being a force for change in this industry and to continue partnering with other actors committed to sustainable construction.
