Alongside other consortium members at the BASAJAUN stand, Garnica shared innovations relating to the use of wood in construction, highlighting "G-Brick Eco", our commitment to sustainable wood construction.

The most recent WoodRise International Congress was held in Bordeaux, France, from 17 to 20 October. It brought together over 3,000 participants from 20 different countries to explore the latest developments and innovations in wood construction. This event has become a nerve centre for discussion on critical issues such as decarbonising the construction sector, the competitiveness of wood construction and international projects in this area.

In this context, Garnica has emerged as a leading player in the promotion of sustainable wood construction through its involvement in the BASAJAUN Project, financed by the European Commission. This project brings together companies, organisations and public bodies with the objective of promoting wood construction as synonymous with innovation and sustainability. The clear mission of the BASAJAUN Project is to maximise the value of Europe's forests, which cover 43% of the European Union's total land area. Not only does this benefit rural communities, but it also drives the digitisation of the entire value chain, from the forest to the finished building.

During the congress, our stand transformed into a showcase of innovation, featuring panels made with “G-Brick Eco”, a product we are currently developing, and some of the furniture items made with 30 mm Duraply panels. As part of our new line of structural products, "G-Brick Eco" stands out as an example of sustainability; instead of conventional XPS foam, it uses wood fibre insulation, promoting sustainability by using local wood and reducing the environmental impact. Furthermore, in France a test building will be built containing "G-Brick Eco" products in the roof and internal walls. Its performance will be monitored in real-life conditions for six months and, once the results are available, these innovative "G-Brick Eco" panels will be brought to market.

At Garnica, our constant commitment to innovation and sustainability is what essentially defines us. This passion has led us to be an integral part of the WoodRise 2023 International Congress, sharing our vision of a more sustainable and environmentally friendly world in terms of wood construction. We hope to continue being a force for change in the sector and to enjoy continued cooperation with other stakeholders committed to sustainable construction.
