At Garnica we have taken an important step towards ensuring a more sustainable and environmentally friendly future by investing in renewable energy. A photovoltaic installation with a peak power of 420 kWp has been commissioned at our production plant in Baños de Río Tobía 2.
The main goal of this new photovoltaic plant is to supply electricity to our factory in La Rioja, leading to a 14% reduction in the electricity required from the conventional grid each year. This reduction represents an annual emissions saving 386.4 tonnes of CO2 equivalent. The company is excited about the positive impact this initiative will have on reducing our carbon footprint and protecting the environment.
Furthermore, producing our own electricity on site will provide us with greater energy efficiency, as losses associated with distributing energy through the grid can be avoided, allowing us to optimise consumption and reduce costs.
This project was possible thanks to European Union NextGenerationEU funding. We were the recipients of this funding initiative that promotes self-consumption and the storage of renewable energy, as well as the implementation of sustainable heating systems in the residential sector. We are very grateful for this opportunity and are proud to contribute to the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan funded by the European Union through NextGenerationEU.
At Garnica, we are fully committed to using our energy resources responsibly and protecting the environment. The electricity for each and every one of our work centres in Spain is supplied from certified renewable sources, which demonstrates our commitment to sustainability and fighting climate change.
This commitment to renewable energy allows us to fulfil our values, while also contributing to the well-being of the planet. We are excited to continue exploring new ways to integrate renewable energy into our operations and making a difference in the push for a greener, more sustainable future.
