Garnica’s materials feature Environmental Protection Declarations (EPD)

At Garnica, we are continuing to expand our commitment to caring for the environment and have joined the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), a voluntary, standardised and trusted way of publishing life cycle assessment information for our products. Verified by third parties and internationally comparable, EPDs calculate the environmental impact of Garnica’s plywood over its entire lifespan.
At Garnica, we offer sustainable products that contribute credits so that our clients can obtain the EPD declaration. The methodology behind this verified impact analysis involves analysing and quantifying the environmental footprint of the products at their different stages, from receiving the primary materials and energy sources used for their production to their final destination as waste. This allows companies to take advantage of EPDs, as they define their reference emissions and identify critical points across the value chain. This in turn enables them to develop better products and operations that are more environmentally friendly.
Garnica’s EPDs were prepared and registered under Environdec, the world’s most widely recognised scheme. In fact, our Efficiency Poplar, Fireshield and Duraply ranges already feature this declaration. Efficiency Poplar is a highly versatile lightweight panel, Fireshield is a fire-rated plywood for construction and Duraply is an ultra-durable plywood for outdoor use, all of which are formed entirely using farmed European poplars.
The EPD-verified impact analysis serves to assign our clients’ projects a differential value for measuring their impact on the environment. This declaration helps to demonstrate corporate transparency and helps us to mitigate the environmental impact of our products, allowing clients to compare the effects that different materials have on the environment. Furthermore, EPD verifications help our clients to improve their ratings in LEED or BREEAM-certified projects.
This is how we at Garnica are continuing to work towards our goal of caring for the environment through more sustainable products, reducing the impact of our resource consumption and manufacturing processes. For this reason, we have taken on the commitment to support our clients in understanding the importance of EPDs and to empower them with methods for distinguishing the best materials, so that they can protect their investments, clients and reputation.
