At Garnica, we continue to expand our commitment to taking care of the environment and have joined the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), a voluntary, standardized, and reliable way of publishing lifecycle assessment information for our products. The EPDs, which are third-party verified and internationally comparable, calculate the environmental impact of Garnica's plywood throughout its lifecycle.
At Garnica, we offer sustainable products that provide credits for our clients for observing the EPD declaration. The methodology of this verified impact analysis entails analyzing and quantifying products’ environmental footprint in their different stages, from obtaining the raw materials and energy sources used to produce them to their final stage as waste. In this way, companies can benefit from the EPDs by defining their baseline emissions and identifying a number of critical points along the value chain, which in turn enables them to develop better products and conduct more environmentally-friendly operations.
Garnica's EPDs were prepared and registered as part of Environdec’s program, which is the most internationally recognized program. In fact, our Efficiency Poplar, Fireshield, and Duraply product series already have this declaration. Efficiency Poplar is a highly versatile lightweight panel, Fireshield is fire-rated plywood for construction purposes, and Duraply is ultra-durable plywood for exterior use, all made entirely of European poplar from tree farms.
The verified EPD impact analysis helps our clients' projects obtain a differential value while making an assessment of their footprint on the environment. This declaration helps demonstrate companies’ transparency and aids us in improving our products’ environmental impact by enabling clients to compare the environmental effects of different materials. In addition, the EPD verifications help our clients to improve their scores on LEED- or BREEAM-certified projects.
In this way, at Garnica, we continue to meet our objective of caring for the environment through our very sustainable products, reducing the impact of resource use and manufacturing processes. That is why we are committed to encouraging our clients to understand the importance of EPDs and empowering them for using methods for distinguishing the best materials, thereby protecting their investment, clients, and reputation.
