Suárez-Quiñones promised to fight to defend and promote poplar growing and the poplar industry. “Poplar trees are a traditional crop in this province and the best poplar trees in Europe are said to come from León", he said during the visit.
The People's Party candidate, who was accompanied by other members of his campaign team, highlighted that Castile and León provides 60% of this type of wood to the industry in Spain and that León is the autonomous community province with the most poplar trees, "Poplar growing is not only an economic activity, it also has numerous environmental and social benefits, protecting biodiversity, absorbing CO2 and providing employment.”
Plant manager Raúl Lacalle showed him around the site, where more than 125,000 cubic metres of panels are produced every year from sustainable plantations. Our plant in Valencia de Don Juan, which started production in 1996 and uses an integral production process, has the largest plywood press in Europe.
