Read the featured articleOn January 31, the Councilor of Development and the Environment of the Regional Government of Castile and León and current People’s Party candidate for the Courts of León, Juan Carlos Suárez-Quiñones, visited our factory in Valencia de Don Juan and met with the plant’s management team.
Suárez-Quiñones promised that he will fight to defend and promote poplar tree cultivation and its industry. “Poplar trees are a traditional product of this province, and we can say that the best poplar trees in Europe are from León,” he stated during his visit.
The People’s Party candidate, who was accompanied by other members of his candidacy, noted that Castile and León provides 60% of this type of wood to the industry in Spain and that León is the province with the greatest abundance of poplar trees in the autonomous community. “Poplar plantations are more than economic activity. They have many environmental and social benefits: protecting biodiversity, absorbing CO2 and creating jobs.”
Raúl Lacalle, plant manager, showed him the factory where more than 125,000 cubic meters of panels are produced every year from sustainable plantations. Our factory in Valencia de Don Juan began production in 1996 and carries out the entire production process. This plant has the largest plywood press in Europe.
